‘Hey Blue, there is a song for you…

…ink on a pin
Underneath the skin
An empty space to fill in’

Listening to Joni Mitchell‘s ‘Blue’  triggered an idea yesterday. Just experimenting, I stuck some 6×6 photographs on wooden cradle panels and then layered them with several coats of a pouring medium, which gave the photos a brush stroke texture as well as increasing gloss. I then drew some line work on the coated photographs with acrylic ink. Once dry, I pinned a sheet of acetate  with handwriting  already done across them (also with acrylic ink). The process and results can be seen below. Although probably not to everyone’s taste, it was a process I had never tried before but thoroughly enjoyed. Printing your photographs does not necessarily mean you’ve finished working on them.
